Because one has to start somewhere

Recommended viewing if you want to save our planet

It may be a few years old now, showing a copyright of 2019, but the BBC Natural History Unit/Open University/PBS documentary series Earth From Space goes into great detail about the way human life is affecting our delicate planet.

It zooms in on particular areas where we, humans, are causing severe damage, but also reflects on scenarios where people are trying to redress the balance and shows that we can all do something, however small, to help with maintaining the natural world as it should be.

Given the choice I would like it to be compulsive viewing for all world leaders in the hope that it may let them see that the way we live now is causing our, and nature’s, ultimate destruction.

If you’re not in the UK you may need to subscribe through a paywall to see it, but if you take the time and effort I’m sure it will resonate with you.

Unfortunately, as is always the case with these things, although the obvious conclusion can be drawn from watching this it is never actually said.

We are not Gods.

As much as we strive to extend human life through medical practices and research and seek better ways to enhance people’s chances of reproduction, along with the extended drain on natural resources more and longer lives inevitably bring about, do we really have the right to do that at the expense of the rest of nature?

I guess nobody out there has the chutzpah to tell it like it is … we need to stop producing humans.

THAT is the only way our planet will survive.

Like it or loathe it, that is the truth.
